Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson book jacket
Emily has been waiting outside Sloane’s empty house for the past two weeks hoping for her to come back. Sloane has always been there for her, but she’s always been just out of reach so that Emily had to step out of comfort zone to join her. But this time? Sloane is completely out of reach. She’s left with no means of communication, just disappeared. Until, one day, Emily received a letter. There wasn’t an apology, there wasn’t even a return address, just a list of summer dares. It didn’t matter. This was something, and it was from Sloane. Emily expected the list to lead her to her one and only best friend Sloane, what she didn’t expect was to make several new friends while she was at it, and definitely not a boyfriend. But does Emily have the guts to complete the list? Will she ever be reunited with Sloane? Or will Emily sink back into the shadows without Sloane’s presence?
The list of summer dares:
This book, while cute, also seemed to have some deep underlying meanings. It seemed to be just as much about loyalty and trust than it was about friendship. Though there were some deeper meanings, I still enjoyed the light and fluffy nature of the book. It was really fun and summer-y. This book is how I’m going to kick off summer reading every year. There is really nothing bad to say about it (plus the book jacket is literally summer perfection). So, read it and tell me what you thought of it!
PG-13 (on the younger side) Reason: 0-3 curse words, and 0-3 “intimate” scenes
