“A Thousand Years”
by Christina Perri

Heart beats fast
Colors and promises
How to be brave?
How can I love when I’m afraid to fall?
But watching you stand alone,
All of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow. One step closer

[Chorus:]
I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling, don’t be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I’ll love you for a thousand more

Time stands still
Beauty in all she is
I will be brave
I will not let anything take away
What’s standing in front of me
Every breath
Every hour has come to this

One step closer

[Chorus:]
I have died every day waiting for you
Darling, don’t be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I’ll love you for a thousand more

And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I’ll love you for a thousand more

One step closer
One step closer

[Chorus:]
I have died every day waiting for you
Darling don’t be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I’ll love you for a thousand more

And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I’ll love you for a thousand more

I chose to write from the point of views that I did because Ms. Meyers hadn’t already written about them so I could use my own style of writing. Leave me a review, telling me what I did well AS WELL AS constructive criticism/ what I can improve on. I hope you enjoy!

Twilight Series: Review

I thought Twilight was okay. This book isn’t as frivolous as many people think it is. But it’s definitely (maybe a little over) dramatic and such a romance novel. Not to mention, Bella seems very weak and is in constant need of a strong male character to “save” her. Now that I think about it, in Twilight, there aren’t any strong female characters in general, the best I can come up with is Alice (she’s my favorite). But, this conversation is for further down. So, let’s get started with the blurb of the book.

Bella Swan the new girl in town, is clumsy as ever, but when she gets to school she catches the eye of Edward Cullen (uh, he’s a hottie, in a model like way) but not in a good way. Every time he sees her he looks mad with chagrin, but why? He’s never even talked to her! Read as you uncover Edward Cullen’s mysterious past as well as future. Watch as they fight for love against all odds. Be surprised as the truth bites!

Honestly, I can understand both sides of the argument. The people who are for Twilight see it as true love and a strong connection between two people who were destined to be together. Some people want that. They want to be destined to a lover who was specifically carved for them. They don’t see Edward as a 109-year-old man who stalks women in the dead of night. They see him as an 18-year-old who is protecting his one and only true love from anything that might harm her. And I think both ways are correct.

At one point, I was like them, I loved Twilight too. But, as I got older my view of Edward didn’t change, my view of Bella did. She went from the kind girl who always wanted to help to the kind girl who always wanted to help but was completely and utterly weak. Always relying on others to do her job for her, or to swoop in and save the day. It bothered me that these people were two very strong males. I don’t think this was Ms. Meyer’s intention to have them be two male, she just wanted to make a love triangle, but, in this case, that didn’t really work out too well. I mean, let’s be real¬†though some of us might have cheered Jacob on, did any of us¬†really think that Bella was going to choose him? No matter how much we wanted it? In the end, I really didn’t think there was any competition in the love triangle at all. In the end, what happened was there was another superhero added to the mix. So, yes, Twilight has some pretty big flaws, but it also gives us hope that true love really exists, (I just pray that we don’t all picture it as Edward and Bella’s relationship) and hope is a very big thing.

So, finally, Twilight is mostly for those of us who believe in true love and don’t really mind the undermining of females.

*I know there is a lot of controversy about this, so tell me what you liked and didn’t like, but please¬†respect others’ feelings.

2.5/5 stars      Why? It was neutral. Not good, nor bad.

PG-13            Why? Some very violent/graphic parts described. A few love making scenes. Degrades females.
